Founding member of TEA passes away
John Wright, a founding member and former president of the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA), has passed away.

John Wright guided TEA for four years, growing its membership and shaping it's future.

Kenyan tourism hit by pirate attacks
Kenyan tourism operators are suffering mass cancellations following the kidnappings and killings of foreign tourists at luxury resorts by Somali pirates.

With the last month alone, two female tourists - a Briton and a French citizen - have been kidnapped and another, the British tourist's husband, has been killed.

It is believed that the attacks have been conducted by pirates from neighbouring Somalia. ....

Portsmouth theatre secures Lottery funding
Portsmouth's New Theatre Royal (NTR) has secured £939,000 of funding towards a repair and restoration project at the Grade II*-listed venue from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).

The grant will support a scheme first launched after a fire at the property in 1972, with plans including an overhaul of the stage house, orchestra pit and access facilities.

Derby arts venue faces council funding cut
Derby's Quad Arts Centre is to have its local authority funding support withdrawn over the next four years, which is expected to result in a loss of income of more than £600,000 for the period.

Quad chief executive Keith Jeffrey called the decision as "extremely bad news, not only for Quad but also the city" and said the decision made Derby less appealing to investors.

New experience for Clearwater Marine Aquarium
A new themed visitor "experience" based around the film Dolphin Tale has launched at Clearwater Marine Aquarium, Florida, US, which aims to increase visitor numbers.

Restoration planned for Warwick's Court House
Warwick's Grade I-listed Court House is to undergo restoration work and will house a new visitor centre, after a Heritage Lottery Fund grant towards the scheme was announced.

Grant for London Transport Museum project
London Transport Museum (LTM) has been handed more than £422,000 towards a project to restore the world's oldest known surviving example of an underground train carriage.

Bernard Donoghue replaces Robin Broke as ALVA director
Robin Broke, who led the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions (ALVA) for 15 years, has retired. He has been replaced by Bernard Donoghue.

Los Angeles movie museum plans move forward
Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) has signed an agreement with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to press ahead with plans for the US city's new movie museum.
