New artistic director for Scottish Ballet
Christopher Hampson, a former professional ballet dancer with the English National Ballet, has been named as the artistic director designate of Scottish Ballet.
Hampson is to take up his new role in August 2012, having worked with companies around the world and winning the Barclays Theatre Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dance.

HLF backing for Crawley's new museum
Efforts to establish a new museum in the centre of Crawley, West Sussex, have taken a step forward after the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) backed the proposed development.
A £113,500 grant has been awarded to the Crawley Museum Society as part of a first round pass toward a full HLF grant, which will see the attraction move to a site in the High Street.

Work starts on new Irish World Heritage Centre
Construction work has now started on a two-phase development to build a new Irish World Heritage Centre in Cheetham Hill, Manchester, 25 years after the original venue opened.
The venue, which aims to celebrate the history and contribution of Irish communities across the world, will be located at the heart of a 25-acre (10.1-hectare) site on Queen's Road.

Southbank Centre to host 2012-inspired events

Agreement reached over Horserace Betting Levy
The Horserace Betting Levy Board has agreed the terms for the 51st Levy Scheme for 2012-13, with recommendations from the Bookmakers' Committee approved by a majority vote.
It is expected that the scheme will generate £65.9m, with William Hill, Ladbrokes and Gala Coral agreeing to guarantee a combined contribution of at least £45m for the period.

£5m youth facility opens in Knowsley
Knowsley Council has announced the opening of a new £5m youth venue in Huyton, which has been developed by local young people and was funded by the Big Lottery Fund.
Aimed at teenagers, the new facility was built by Balfour Beatty and features a media suite; a café; a BMX ramp and skatepark; an outdoor multi-use games area; and a chill-out area.

Edinburgh property receives initial HLF support
The Scottish Historic Buildings Trust (SHBT) has secured initial support from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) towards its plans for Riddle's Court on Edinburgh's Royal Mile.
A £5.8m programme of repair and restoration has been planned for the A-listed property in Edinburgh's Old Town, which is one of the city's oldest surviving courtyard houses.
