Scottish National Portrait Gallery reopens

New-look Museum of Lancashire unveiled
The Museum of Lancashire at Preston's Quarter Sessions House has reopened following a £1.7m refurbishment and will be offering free admission for the next 12 months.
A number of new interactive galleries have been added to the attraction, including Lancashire Goes to War and Lancashire at Play. Disabled access was also improved.

Casson Mann lands London museum contract
Casson Mann has been selected as exhibition designers for the Natural History Museum's new Treasures gallery, which forms part of a wider redevelopment at the London attraction.
The gallery will be located at the top of the North Staircase and will open in 2012 in the first phase of the Central Hall scheme, displaying some of the museum's "greatest treasures".

£500,000 funding for John Peel Centre
The John Peel Centre for Creative Arts (JPCCA) in Stowmarket, Suffolk, has been awarded £500,000 of funding by Biffa towards the next stage of its redevelopment proposals.
Named after late broadcaster John Peel, the facility was the only cultural venue to be handed a Biffa Flagship Project grant and is now seeking to secure additional match-funding.

Douglas casino hotel joins Best Western
The Sefton Group-owned Palace Hotel and Casino in Douglas, Isle of Man, has become the the island's first property to join the Best Western portfolio in the last 10 years.

Two hurt in HMS Belfast gangway collapse
Two contractors sustained minor injuries and around 170 people had to be evacuated from HMS Belfast yesterday (29 November) after the gangway leading to the ship collapsed.
London Fire Brigade said firefighters from Whitechapel, Dowgate and its river boat service attended the scene, with the contractors taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.

TEA names newly elected board

Next phase of Scarborough plans on show

US$18m waterpark to open in Las Vegas
The new US$18m (£11.5m, EUR13.5m) Splash Canyon Waterpark, a 25-acre (10-hectare) development in Las Vegas, US, is expected to open on Memorial Day weekend next year.

Arts venue planned for Wakefield building
