NMM/Art Fund in Shonibare artwork appeal
A national fundraising appeal has been unveiled by the National Maritime Museum (NMM) and the Art Fund in a bid to acquire Yinka Shonibare's Nelson's Ship in a Bottle.

JMA Ventures pulls out of Great America deal
US-based property investor JMA Ventures has pulled out of a deal to acquire the Great America theme park in California from theme park operator Cedar Fair.
JMA had agreed terms for the attraction with Cedar Fair on 16 September but in a short statement, Cedar Fair announced that the deal was off.

Museum of London eyes development role
A Museums Association (MA) members' meeting has learned how the Museum of London (MoL) has bid for funding to run the capital's development officer network.
It was one of the topics discussed at the event, along with the MoL's application for support through the Renaissance major grants programme from Arts Council England (ACE).

£1.15m boost for Belfast Hills LP plans

Study reveals impact of Mayo 'greenway'
Fáilte Ireland has published new figures that have revealed County Mayo's Great Western Greenway will have a projected economic impact of EUR6.3m (£5.4m) this year.
The walking and cycling route follows the line of the former Great Western Railway, which linked Westport, Newport, Mulranny and Achill. It was fully completed in July 2011.

New operator named for Liverpool theatre
Liverpool's Epstein Theatre, which was formerly known as The Neptune, is to be revived as a "lively music venue" after Liverpool Sound City was selected as its new operator.
The building, which first opened as Crane's Music Hall in 1911, underwent a £1m overhaul earlier this year and renamed after the former Beatles manager Brian Epstein.

Irish government confirms Budget 2012
Ireland's Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport have been informed of their funding allocation, following Budget 2012.
The current expenditure provision for the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport for next year will be EUR786m (£672m)

Brighton in line for 'eco-tourism' future?
A member of Brighton and Hove City Council (BHCC) is proposing to establish the area as the UK's capital for "urban eco-tourism" and to appeal to environmentally-friendly visitors.

Funding secured for The Gathering 2013
Ireland's finance minister Michael Noonan has unveiled a "special allocation" of funding towards The Gathering, a major tourism event which is scheduled to take place in 2013.
