£9m BMAG development moves forward

Council backs Hastings Pier CPO plan

Year of Creative Scotland details revealed
Scottish culture and external affairs secretary Fiona Hyslop has set out details of nationwide celebrations due to take place as part of the Year of Creative Scotland 2012.
Creative Scotland, the agency responsible for promoting Scottish arts and culture, will invest £6.5m of National Lottery funding into the programme, which spans the entire 12 months.

Stanford University to build US$30.5m arts museum
Stanford University's board of trustees has approved plans for a US$30.5m (€23m, £20m) arts museum which will house the university's Anderson Collection.

London hotel teams up with Saatchi Gallery
A new partnership between Hyatt Regency London-The Churchill and the Saatchi Gallery will see contemporary art installations displayed at the hotel from 1 January 2012.
The works will be on show in the hotel's public areas, such as the lobby and The Montagu restaurant. The Saatchi Gallery will curate three themed exhibitions throughout the year.

Thomas Cook sells hotel group interest
Thomas Cook Group has reached an agreement to sell its interest in the Spain-based hotel group Hoteles Y Clubs De Vacaciones (HCV) to Iberostar Hotels y Apartamentos (IBS).
The sale of HCV forms part of Thomas Cook's disposal programme, which was unveiled earlier this year and aims to offload up to £200m (EUR238m) worth of non-core assets.

New artistic director for Tate Liverpool
Francesco Manacorda, the director of Turin, Italy-based contemporary art fair Artissima, has been named as the new artistic director of Tate Liverpool with effect from April 2012.
The Italian-born former curator of Barbican Art Gallery will succeed Christoph Grunenberg, who is to become director of Kunsthalle Bremen, Germany, after 10 years at Tate Liverpool.

Record visitor numbers for Chester Zoo

NMM scheme to involve Casson Mann
London-based exhibition and museum designer Casson Mann has announced that it has been tasked with drawing up plans for a new flagship gallery at the National Maritime Museum (NMM), London.

Ukraine plans new 'tourist city' development
Ukrainian vice prime minister and minister of infrastructure Borys Kolesnikov has unveiled plans to develop a new "tourist city" near Yevpatoria over the next three-and-a-half years.
