11 million Brits plan domestic Christmas trip
VisitEngland has found that more than 11 million UK residents, equivalent to 23 per cent of the adult population, will take a domestic overnight trip over the two-week Christmas period.
According to national tourism agency's Christmas Trip Tracker nearly 10 million, or 20 per cent of the adult population, will take a trip in England - up 2 per cent on last year.

MA/UKTI build Turkish museum sector ties
Museums Association (MA) director Mark Taylor has visited Turkey as part of a delegation designed to help establish closer ties between the UK and the Turkish museums sector.
The trip was brokered by UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), with a number of museums and suppliers such as Tate Modern and Event Communications represented in Turkey.

Trust secures new Hertsmere leisure contract
Hertsmere Borough Council (HBC) has renewed its management contract with Hertsmere Leisure, which will see the trust operate sports and cultural facilities for a further 10 years.
Due to commence on 1 February 2012, the agreement includes the operation of The Venue; Bushey Grove Leisure Centre; and Potters Bar's Wyllyotts Theatre going forward.

Nagoya named as Legoland Japan site
Merlin Entertainments Group, the UK-based visitor attractions operator, has named Nagoya as its preferred location for the development of a new Legoland-branded park in Japan.

Merlin eyes Living and Leisure takeover
UK-based attractions operator Merlin Entertainments Group has submitted a recommended takeover offer for its Asia-Pacific counterpart, Living and Leisure Australia Group (LLA).

NMSI to merge with Manchester attraction

New heritage centre planned for Exeter
Devon County Council (DCC) is considering proposals for the creation of a new flagship heritage centre in Exeter, which forms part of efforts to modernise its heritage service.
