Council reports Marlowe Theatre deficit
Canterbury's £25.6m Marlowe Theatre has recorded a £236,000 deficit during its first six months of trading, according to a report put before Canterbury City Council's executive.

New £1.5m industrial heritage fund launches
A £1.5m initiative has been launched by the Association of Independent Museums (AIM) in partnership with Biffa Award to support industrial heritage projects throughout the UK.
The National Heritage Landmarks Partnership Scheme is designed to establish a nationwide network of interpretation and education projects showcasing industrial development.
Biffa Award will contribute £500,000 each year for three years

Aspers succeeds in Milton Keynes casino bid

Much Wenlock Museum to officially reopen
Heritage minister John Penrose is to officially reopen Much Wenlock Museum, Shropshire, on 12 April following the completion of a recent refurbishment.

Work begins on Ring of Harmony attraction in Shenfu, China
Construction work has begun on the Ring of Harmony wheel attraction at Shenfu New Town near Fushun, China.

VisitEngland reveals domestic tourism figures
The number of domestic overnight trips taken in England during 2011 increased by 9 per cent compared with 2010 to more than 104 million, according to new figures published by VisitEngland.

£5m youth centre opens in Nottingham
A new youth centre has opened in Nottingham following a £5m investment in the renovation and transformation of a Grade II-listed building in the city centre.

Lottery funding for horseracing museum vision
The Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded £4.2m towards the proposed redevelopment of the Palace House site, Newmarket, into the Home of Horseracing National Heritage Centre.
