Funding for Staffordshire Great War Trail project
Staffordshire County Council has been awarded £80,000 from the Arts Council England to develop a trail to support plans for the county's commemoration of the Great War. Football tourism worth £706m to British economy
Figures released by national tourism agency VisitBritain show that nearly one million overseas visitors attended a game of football in the UK last year. It is estimated that foreign football tourists spent around £706m, the equivalent of £785 per fan and £200 more than the average 'non-football' visitor (£583).

Museums need to prioritise security
Thefts at regional museums are all too frequent, according to a BBC investigation by Inside Out, which will be aired in the east this evening. Isle of Man awarded Dark Skies status
Seven sites around the Isle of Man have been designated Dark Sky Discovery Sites under the Dark Skies Discovery Initiative, an international scheme operated by the UK Science and Technology Facilities Council. Swansea gallery gets additional funding
Glynn Vivian Art Gallery in Swansea has been given a further boost as it received additional funding for its £6.7m redevelopment from the Welsh regeneration programme. Arts Council announces recipients of £2.6m Strategic Touring grants
Arts Council England has today (17 October) announced the successful applicants to the fourth round of its Strategic touring programme. A total of £2.6m has been awarded to five organisations - Chrysalis Arts Development, The Dance Touring Partnership (DTP), Multistory, Rural Arts North Yorkshire and The Touring Consortium Theatre Company (TCTC). Detailed plans submitted for Battersea Power Station
Detailed plans for the first phase of Rafael Viñoly's Battersea Power Station masterplan have now been submitted to Wandsworth Council. Cornish mine museum gets HLF grant
The Grade II King Edward Mine Museum near Camborne in Cornwall has been awarded a Your Heritage grant of £35,700 by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Historic London cinema receives £1.5m grant restoration

National Media Museum to hold spending review
The National Media Museum in Bradford is undertaking a spending review after experiencing a fall in visitor numbers. The three-week consultation will focus on cutting running costs and going "back to basics". Visits to the museum have halved since 2001, with 500,000 visiting the museum last year.
