Development grant awarded for Northern Ireland maritime museum
A proposed Maritime Museum and Archive Centre for Erbrington in Derry-Londonderry has been awarded a development grant of £278,000 by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Scottish galleries experience 25 per cent surge in visitor numbers
National Galleries of Scotland (NGS) has seen a 25 per cent increase of visitors in 2012 with three sites in Edinburgh attracting over 1.6m people. The highest previous figure for all three sites was recorded in 2006 with 1.56m. The results are, in part, due to the success of the opening of the refurbished Scottish National Portrait Gallery in December 2011.
