Legacy loses 'preferred bidder' status as Dome race begins
Legacy has today lost its preferred bidder status to buy the Dome opening up the sale to other consortia, after an agreement could not be reached by yesterday's deadline. Hopes to raise £10m in Dome auction
The Dome's infamous centrepiece, The Body Zone, is to be dismembered piece by piece when the contents are auctioned off for engineer's fears that it will collapse. Details were announced today of the disposal of the Dome's contents by auctioneer Henry Butcher. Olympia to become theme park for Christmas
Three full sized rollercoasters will be operating under Olympia's roof over the festive season, as the venue hosts what it claims to be Europe's biggest indoor theme park. Running from Boxing Day to 5 January 2001, the attraction run by the James Mellors Group of Nottingham will include jugglers, a clown spectacular, magicians, Punch and Judy and face painting. PY still interested in buying Dome
Leisure Opportunities has had confirmation that chief executive of NMEC, Pierre-Yves Gerbeau, is definitely interested in buying the Dome should talks with preferred bidder Legacy break down. Gerbeau has disclosed that he has obtained financial backing from Japanese bank Nomura, and that he has been in discussions with club operator Ministry of Sound who will be staging the Dome's New Year's Eve finale.

Thurley to move to English Heritage
Dr Simon Thurley, director of the Museum of London, has been appointed chief executive of English Heritage.
