Tourism Minister appointed
Dr Kim Howells MP has been appointed Minister for Tourism, Film and Broadcasting by new Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell. Howells, MP for Pontypridd, is looking forward his new vital role in rebuilding the tourism industry: Promoting tourism in Britain and helping to restore confidence within the industry following the foot and mouth outbreak is one of my first priorities, he commented.

National Gallery to open late for Vermeer
The National Gallery has taken the unprecedented step of staying open late at weekends to cope with the anticipated influx of visitors to its Vermeer and the Delft School exhibition in the Sainsbury's Wing. Leaning Tower to reopen to tourists

Lakeland Fells to reopen this weekend
Walkers will be allowed to access the Lakeland fells as of this weekend, the first time since restrictions were introduced to prevent the spread of the foot and mouth disease.
