London hotels hit by US slowdown
The continued slowdown of the US economy has hit London hotels, with a drop in occupancy, average room rates and rooms yields throughout July. The latest monthly survey from hotel management consultants PKF reveals that of the 106 London hotels studied, occupancy fell by 5.8 per cent to 83 per cent and the average room rate fell by 12.2 per cent to £118.45. Eden Project goes snap, crackle, pop
Cereal manufacturer Kellogg's and the Eden Project in St Austell, Cornwall have joined forces in a new marketing initiative aiming to bring in visitors to the botanical attraction. The Eden Project, which only opened in March has already surpassed its attendance targets for the year, and is proving to be the biggest tourist attraction in the South West, despite the impact of foot and mouth on the region.

Fairground insult for young woman
A 23-year-old woman has complained of being humiliated at the Felixstowe Carnival funfair after being told she was 'too fat' to go on the ride. Inca treasures denounced as fake
Thousands of artefacts on show in Peru's Museum of Gold (Museo del Oro) have been taken off display as experts revealed them to be fakes. The collection, which has provided exhibitions around the world with Inca treasures was investigated following claims of forgeries which have been substantiated by a team of experts working at the museum. Silbury Hill weathers the storm
The National Heritage site Silbury Hill in Wiltshire is undergoing emergency maintenance to protect it from severe weather damage. Eiffel Tower redevelopment
The Eiffel Tower is to undergo building works to make the 300 metre high attraction even bigger. Bourne to sell Oasis to Center Parcs
