Regional museums need more money
More than a quarter of a million pounds is needed to revitalise England's regional museums according to a new report from the Regional Museums Task Force.

Three new rides for Fantasy Island
Three new white knuckle rides costing £35m are to open at the Magical World of Fantasy Island in Lincolnshire.

Odyssey, the largest of the three attractions is a suspended steal roller coaster, Stunt Flyer ride recreates an aerobatic display pilot stalling while performing mid-air manoeuvres, and the G Force ride stands 250 feet above sea level. The Centre for Alternative Technology in Snowdonia is promoting family holidays in its eco-cabins and will be featured on the BBC's Holiday programme, in Spring 2002.

London Zoo keeper killed by elephant
A senior keeper was crushed to death at London Zoo on 20 October. The zoo was closed the following day as a mark of respect.

The keeper, Jim Robson, 40, had worked at the zoo for 26 years, 16 of them with elephants. A spokesperson at London Zoo said it was believed that Jim Robson tripped and fell and was stepped on by one of the Asian elephants in his care; he died later in hospital.

National Trust acquires a slum
The National Trust is backing a scheme to redevelop an 18th century slum into a new visitor attraction for Birmingham.

RSC Plans Meet Opposition
