New gyro-swing ride at Drayton Manor
Staffordshire theme park Drayton Manor has a new ride as part of a £2.5m investment programme for the 2002 season.

The Maelstrom, an invention of Ride Trade of Liechtenstein, seats 32 riders facing outwards on a circular gondola. The gondola, at the end of a 17.4m pendulum, then swings to a height of 22.5m, while simultaneously whirling and revolving.

Ireland's Number One tourist attraction
Guinness Storehouse has been named Ireland's number one tourist attraction in its first year of operation by Tourism Development International (TDI).

BTA lists online entry criteria

A wave of woodland planting is planned across towns and cities in England after the National Urban Forestry Unit (NUFU) won grants totalling almost £1m.

Stratford's Theatre Royal re-opens
