Telling the story of the Isles
A new museum detailing the history of the Isle of Skye has opened on the Isle at Armande. The £2m Museum of the Isles tells the tale of Skye through the eyes of the McDonald clan. £10m Shetland Museum and Archives
The Heritage Lottery Fund has donated £4.9m towards a £10m new Shetland Museum and Archives, which will be built at Hay's Dock in Lerwick. The Shetland Museum, which opened in 1966, currently houses a collection including paintings, textiles, photographs and archeological remains. Brazilian eco island resort to expand
Vitala Group is finalising its negotiations to develop the Captain Nikolas Ecological Island resort hotel at Isla da Croa near Maceio, Alagoas in Brazil. Controversial exhibition sparks violence
The controversial Body Worlds exhibition provoked a hammer attack from a member of the public during its run in London. The anatomical exhibition of human bodies, has attracted eight million visitors around the world, but caused controversy at its showing at the Atlantis Gallery, in London's East End. Lara Croft comes to Paramount Parks

1920s coaster gets listed
Scenic Railway, the 82-year-old wooden rollercoaster at Margate's Dreamland amusement park, has become the first ride in Britain to be recognised as a listed building. The roller coaster, which opened in 1920, received a Grade II listed status from English Heritage. The Deep Millennium project opens in Hull

£4.9m boost for Shildon attraction
