UK cities launch online city break service
Sixteen UK cities have made the most of the internet by joining forces with Superbreak, the short break operator, to launch an online booking service for city breaks. Oakwood splashes out on new water ride
Oakwood Park has officially opened its new £1.7m white-knuckle water ride, known as Hydro - or Water's Revenge. The 121ft high ride, from Swiss manufacturer Intamin, drops 111ft into a plunge pool containing a million gallons of water. Sea Life Centre opens in Dortmund

Spanish Aspro to swallow deep-sea
Deep-Sea Leisure, the operator of marine attractions has accepted a mandatory cash offer Net-Ein SA, a subsidiary of Aspro, the Spanish operator of water parks and aquariums in continental Europe. Horniman extension
The Horniman museum in London has been expanded with an additional 16 acres. Celebration of Manchester's waterways
Aquafest, British Waterways' contribution to the XVII Commonwealth Games in Manchester this summer, begins on 25 July with a Commonwealth Canal Carnival. Mini-break demand grows
Demand for short breaks in UK coastal destinations is continuing to grow, according to Superbreak Mini-Holidays.
