Gas alert on Chessington World of Adventures ride
Guests were evacuated from the Tomb Blaster ride queue line at Chessington World of Adventures during the UK theme park's Halloween festivities. The ride operator initiated the attraction's closure after becoming aware of an unusual smell in the queue line area. Vegetable Kingdom to open next year
Construction has begun on the Vegetable Kingdom, a new visitor attraction due to open in May 2003 at Ryton Organic Gardens in Coventry. The £1.7m project, which received £939,000 in funding from the Heritage lottery fund and a further £351,000 from the European Regional Development Fund, is a permanent exhibition designed by Rugby-based HB Architects. London in position to mount 'world-beating' bid for 2012 Olympics
London has the potential to launch a world-beating bid for the 2012 Olympic Games says an independent report by Arup. The report claims that for an initial expenditure of £1.8bn, bidding for and staging the Olympics in London could produce a profit of £79m. Vivendi Universal denies reports of theme park assets disposal

Techniquest exports exhibits to Europe
Techniquest Enterprises Ltd (TQE), the trading company of the Cardiff Bay Science Discovery Centre in the UK, has secured a contract to supply a suite of hands-on exhibits to a new science attraction in Germany. New marketing force for UK
The British Tourist Authority (BTA) and the English Tourism Council (ETC) are to join forces to form a national tourism marketing organisation for the UK. Bond drives into Heritage Motor Centre
The Heritage Motor Centre in Warwickshire will be able to boast a spectacular new exhibit later this month when it takes delivery of the Jaguar XKR which features in the forthcoming Bond movie, Die Another Day.
