Isle of Wight to attract investment
Project Cowes, a scheme run by Isle of Wight Council, the Isle of Wight Economic Partnership and the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) to attract millions of pounds of investment to the island has got underway. Funding package complete for Shildon Railway Village
Final capital funding has been approved for the proposed new Shildon Railway Village in Co. Durham, completing a package of well over £7m. National Trust accepts Euro
The Euro is to be accepted as payment throughout the National Trust following a vote at the trust's AGM. Selected National Trust properties, which receive a high proportion of visitors from the EU, already accept the Euro, but all outlets will be gradually converted - whenever old tills need to be retired, they will be replaced with new dual-currency tills. Ski resort plan for Suffolk
A ski resort and new rail links are at the centre of multi-million pound plans to redevelop a former cement works in Suffolk. Snoasis has put forward a planning proposal to mid-Suffolk County Council for an indoor ski complex, using 'proper' snow and ice using renewable energy. Visitor centre for Kew's popular country estate
Wakehurst Place, run by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and home of the Millennium Seed Bank, has started work on a new visitor centre. The £1.8m facility is being built to improve visitor facilities in response to Wakehurst's increasing popularity - Kew's country estate was voted Garden of the Year by the Good Britain Guide in 2001, the same year it received one of its hightest numbers of visitors.

Genoa-themed ride design competition
The European Association Amusement Supplier Show has teamed up with the University of Genoa to stage a design competition based on park rides and attractions.
