Classic Award for National Railway Museum
The National Railway Museum (NRM) has won the Classic Award at the Museum and Heritage Show Awards for Excellence.

Lights to turn Thames into river of colour

Almond Valley named as Scottish Museum of the Year
Almond Valley Heritage Centre has been named Scottish Museum of the Year 2002.

Recent developments recognised were a new fossil section, a laboratory area for children, improved interpretation for the shale oil industry, a new museum store, a picnic barn for groups and a new entrance hall and shop.

Live modelling for Baltic Centre
Sculptor Antony Gormley is casting 240 Geordies, aged between five and 95, in plaster for one of the largest exhibitions in Britain.

Gormley is to use the casts to create a 'sparkling myriad of stainless steel elements' - a series of body shapes for a project to be called Domain Field. Later this Spring they will line 800 metres of a gallery in the Baltic Centre in Gateshead.

Irish tourism plans revealed
Tourism Ireland and the Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB), have revealed plans to grow tourism throughout Ireland over the next five years.
