Devon is cream of the crop
A survey by Country Life magazine shows that Devon is the best English county to live in. After collating data from Government offices, countryside groups, the Land Registry, the Met Office and various independent organisations, the county scored 72 out of a possible 100, more than twice that of joint bottom Hertfordshire and Staffordshire. Disney to look for further sites in Asia

Japanese theme park closes
The operators of the Huis Ten Bosch theme park in Sasebo, Japan, have filed for bankruptcy with liabilities of Y229bn. The Dutch-themed attraction - modelled on a 17th century Netherlands town and including museums, hotels, holiday homes, shops and condominiums - originally enjoyed strong visitor figures when it opened in 1992 but since the late 1990s has seen falling attendance due to the recession in Japan.

ETOA survey fears tourism drop

Alton Towers waterpark hotel to open this summer
Alton Towers has announced its new Caribbean-themed Alton Towers Splash Landings Hotel will open in June. Royal Armouries US partnership
The Royal Armouries (RA) and the Frazier Historical Arms Museum (FHAM) have signed a five-year agreement aimed at creating a new museum at the FHAM's site in Louisville. History of Jews in Poland to be developed in Warsaw
