Devon is cream of the crop
A survey by Country Life magazine shows that Devon is the best English county to live in.

After collating data from Government offices, countryside groups, the Land Registry, the Met Office and various independent organisations, the county scored 72 out of a possible 100, more than twice that of joint bottom Hertfordshire and Staffordshire.

Sir John offers support to PM

Disney to look for further sites in Asia
Tom Morris, VP, executive producer - creative development for Hong Kong Disneyland has told Attractions Management that if the park works, the company will look for further sites in Asia.

Japanese theme park closes
The operators of the Huis Ten Bosch theme park in Sasebo, Japan, have filed for bankruptcy with liabilities of Y229bn.

The Dutch-themed attraction - modelled on a 17th century Netherlands town and including museums, hotels, holiday homes, shops and condominiums - originally enjoyed strong visitor figures when it opened in 1992 but since the late 1990s has seen falling attendance due to the recession in Japan.

ETOA survey fears tourism drop
A survey by the European Tour Operators Association has shown that underlying demand for visits to Europe is strong but revealed worries about a war effect.

EnglandNet becomes limited company
EnglandNet, the tourism e-business project developed by the English Tourism Council and England's regional tourist boards, has become a limited company.

Alton Towers waterpark hotel to open this summer
Alton Towers has announced its new Caribbean-themed Alton Towers Splash Landings Hotel will open in June.

Designed and built by Shepherd Construction, Alton Towers says the hotel is the first in Europe to incorporate an indoor and outdoor water park, which will be exclusively for hotel guests.

Royal Armouries US partnership
The Royal Armouries (RA) and the Frazier Historical Arms Museum (FHAM) have signed a five-year agreement aimed at creating a new museum at the FHAM's site in Louisville.

Under an agreement renewable after three years, the RA will lend 250 - 300 objects to the FHAM covering the period between the 11th and 19th centuries. Details on the displays have yet to be released.

History of Jews in Poland to be developed in Warsaw
The completed masterplan for the Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw should be completed any day.
