Witley's jet set in top form
One of Europe's largest 19th century fountains, designed by W.A. Nesfield, has been brought back to life. After a £700,000 restoration with a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the fountain, at Witley Court in Worcestershire, now has 120 separate jets spraying water from among giant shells, sea nymphs, dolphins and a serpent. The main jet reaches up to 90 feet. The gardens have been open to the public

New name for Snowdon?
Welsh language group, Cymuned, wants Mount Snowdon in North Wales to revert to its original Welsh name, Yr Wyddfa. It also wants the mountain range of which Snowdon is a part to be known as Eryri, the Place of the Eagles. Cymuned claims that both names have been used locally for hundreds of years, whereas Snowdon and Snowdonia only came into use when Victorian day-trippers started to visit the area.

New chief exec at Disneyland Paris
EuroDisney has named André Lacroix as the company's new chief executive officer and chairman. He takes over from Jay Rasulo, who has moved to Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. By train to Darwin
Tickets are on sale for the inaugural journeys on the Alice Springs to Darwin extension of the Great Southern Railway's (GSR) line between Adelaide and Alice. The date for the first departure is still to be finalised but is expected to be some time in January 2004 and will feature community celebrations in Port Augusta, Alice Springs, Tennant Creek and Katherine. Holiday centre hit by virus
It is reported that the Butlin's Holiday Centre at Minehead has been affected by a stomach bug, which has affected many of the sites' guests. The illness - which first appeared earlier this week - is believed to be the Norwalk virus, which has touched the centre in previous years, the BBC said. The centre has not been closed but the local health authority is monitoring the situation.

Warning for attractions: 'consolidation ahead'
Zero growth, sliding profits and escalating debts have pushed just over half of the UK amusement parks and arcades industry to the brink of failure, says Plimsoll Publishing in its latest report. Plimsoll's annual financial health check of the 'top' 359 companies in the industry reveals that consolidation will be essential as supply is currently outstripping demand.
