New body to promote educational travel

Courtauld Institute forms alliance with St Petersburg museum
The Courtauld Institute of Art has formed an alliance with The State Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg after a grant from the Edmond J Safra Philanthropic Foundation.The grant will support teaching and research at the Courtauld and also fund Edmond J Safra Visiting Curators from the State Hermitage Museum to the Courtauld Institute of Art in London. Earth Centre sees big hike in visitor numbers
Doncaster's Earth Centre says its visitor figures have risen by an 'encouraging' 42 per cent compared to the same period last year.Chief executive, Suzy Brain England, said between January and April more than 37,000 families had visited the park, compared to 27,000 in the same period in 2002: 'A number of new attractions and exhibitions opened in 2003 and it is these, together with an 'affordable all inclusive package'

Chalk horse to get rubbed out?

Disney announces expedition to Everest

Riviera oil slick dealt with
A large oil slick which forced the closure of beaches near Menton on the French Riviera yesterday has been cleared.Local authorities set up floating barriers to contain the oil and a clean-up operation has now removed it. The incident came only a couple of days before the start of the Cannes Film Festival. It is thought that the spillage came from an oil tanker at sea illegally cleaning out its tanks.
